Beer Reviews: Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat

I've decided to try a little something new: a scientific analysis of beer. By "scientific," I mean I'll collect large amounts of empirical evidence and then, though the power of introspection, tell you whether the beer sucks or not. So stay tooned for more of these in the future.

The first candidate to bear the weight my interminable scrutiny is Samuel Adams: Cherry Wheat. This doesn't claim to be a seasonal flavor per se, so it's just one of any number from the quote "Brewmaster's Collection." As you might expect, it's a wheat beer flavored with cherries. Like a cherry coke, you might say. You might also say, "Wow, that seems kind of womanish." Be that as it may, I'm comfortable enough with my manhood to say it's damned delicious.

The taste is unsurprising as the cherries are quite distinct. I say that most all beers taste the same going in; it's only when you let out that "Aahhhhhh..." that you get to be on a first name basis. That's when the palate really gets tickled. This one is really quite... [grabs bottle]... delightful. If you don't like cherries, that's clearly criterion enough for you to move along. For the rest of you, the beer is refreshing, crisp, and so on and so forth. It's slightly sweet and not too hoppy. I guess in the beer lingo, that means more malt and less hops, respectively. Anyway, it's really fucking good. It smells good, tastes good, and it's not a watered-down pussy-ass "light" beer that you might drink if you hate beer and the well-water gives you plague or dysentery. In the interest of due dilligence, my wife (who hates beer) said she hated it. Anyhow, highly recommended. It's just what you'd expect so, if you expect you'd hate it then... you get the idea.

Acknowledgments: I suppose it's only fair to say that beer reviews are not an original idea. I have personally seen them done on Diggnation and Linux Outlaws, both of which are also highly recommended despite the fact that I haven't seen/heard either one of them in quite some time.
